4th August - DIY chemo

Dad has asked me to remove posts relating to his illness - after his prior insistence that every step be documented, he has now decided it is too personal for him so I have taken down all the posts except for the first two.

As things stand, he is at home and is taken what he called DIY chemo (vomit in the comfort of your own home). We have everything crossed that this will help, but for now, there won't be any more updates unless I have something important to pass on.

Thank you again for your kindness and support

Catherine

Thanks for the update Catherine, I know it's a difficult time for you and I pass on my very best wishes to you all and a speedy recovery to your dad. As a result of all he achieved through this amazing website, your dad has many, many people all around the world who wish him and all of you a long and happy life.

Might your dad (or you) be willing to write a bit about HIS life? Harry's story isn't really complete without some info about the person preserving his legacy.

Thank you and best wishes!

Praying for your father. I started following this blog when MSNBC did an article on it a few years ago. It was so interesting to read about WW I through your great-grandfathers' eyes. I wish your father Bill all the best and am praying for a fast recovery!

Dear Catherine
This the first time I have visited your father Bill's blog site. Infact this is my first ever blog posting! Sorry to read about your father's illness. It might cheer him and your family to hear that his interest in family history has lead to a most unusual connection being made. I am Rob Bonser-Wilton of Frome,Somerset(but a Cornish Wilton by birth and descent) However I am married to Helen - a Bonser by birth who is a great great granddaughter of William Bonser of Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire (born 1815 - East Bridgford, Nottinghamshire)I have researched the Bonser family history for our 4 year old son - Lorcan - and in the process of doing so - i have managed to reestablish contact with the Beardall family in the US who are descended from Florence Bonser, a daughter of William Bonser. Low and behold last week - I received an eamil from Mary Beardall Hoffmann of Florida USA which included the information that back in 2000 she had an e-mail from a Bill Lamin of Helston Cornwall. He had a book with water color pictures produced in 1833 by William Bonser of East Bridgeford. The water colors were of the same style as some others that Mary knew Florence’s father painted.Mary recalls that the time Mr. Lamin (who I assume to be your father Bill) felt that there was some family relationship between the Bonsers and the Lamins but he wasn’t sure of the connection.
A small world indeed! Best Wishes to you and your family at this difficult time.
